The Major Blues Scale

The-Major-Blues-Scale-Wide

The Major Blues scale is basically the Minor Blues scale with a different root note.

The “blue note” that we add now functions as the b3 and it gives the scale a bit of attitude to an overall major sound.

The patterns are a little strange, but if you can approach this scale as the minor blues scale and shift everything up one shape you’ll get it in no time.

Each mode has its own characteristics and usefulness. Refer to the blue text to the left.
