Practicing Your Bends

The main thing you’ll want to pay attention to when bending notes is your intonation. You want to make sure that all of your bent notes are in tune.

This can be hard to get used to when beginning to play or even when switching from one guitar to another due to differences in neck lengths or string gauges.

An easy way to practice bending in tune is to play a reference note first and then try to match the pitch when bending.

Here’s a video example to show you what I mean. This is an exercise I try to do at least a little every time I pick up the guitar.

We’ll practice minor 2nd, major second, minor third and major third bends.

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments and help our site grow by sharing this awesome knowledge with others.
