This E Minor Backing Track has a laid back groove and sounds great. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the guys over at CoffeeBreakGrooves.com. Their tracks feature professional musicians playing real instruments and the production quality is always top notch.
This track is in the key of E minor so it’s safe to jam in E minor pentatonic through the whole thing and sound awesome. If you’re looking to kick it up a notch though, you can switch between the pentatonic scales for each chord played. Try to match up the four scales below to the chords being played. You can use E minor pentatonic for both E minor chords.

Scales You Can Use
Here are some scale suggestions for use with this backing track. If you mash the two scales together you can see that it nearly forms the E Natural Minor (Aeolian) Scale.

C Major Pentatonic

Playing the fourth pentatonic shape on the 12th fret gives you the C Major Pentatonic which sounds great over the C maj7 chord.
B Minor Pentatonic
▲12th Fret
Playing the third pentatonic shape on the 12th fret gives you the B Minor Pentatonic which sounds great over the B min7 chord.
A Minor Pentatonic
▲12th Fret
Playing the fourth pentatonic shape on the 12th fret also gives you the A Minor Pentatonic which sounds great over the A min7 chord.
E Suspended Pentatonic
▲12th Fret
Playing the third pentatonic shape on the 12th fret gives you a sort of E Suspended Pentatonic which sounds great over the E min9 chord since it replaces the 3rd with the 9th.
