[lollum_dropcap]L[/lollum_dropcap]ayla is one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time in my mind. It was the first song I remember noticing that started with one lone guitar. I had probably heard others before that time but Layla’s signature riff had such a bold decoration of swagger it grabbed me from the very first flutter of it’s pentatonic notes.
It was written to be played loudly in giant arenas. To reverberate through the crowd and echo in the halls of rock and roll heaven forever. Duane Allman and Eric Clapton really knocked it out off the park with this tune. Let’s check out how to play Layla in this guitar lesson.
