March 11, 2015Spacey & Mellow | E Lydian Backing Track
This is my new favorite backing track, I could jam over it all the ding-dong day if you know what I mean. Anyway, there are a bunch of different approaches that you can take when soloing over this beautiful sounding E Lydian Backing Track by Guthrie Govan.
The first and most obvious is to use the E Lydian scale to create your licks. This will sound awesome and dreamy. Another way to approach this track is to switch back and forth between E Major Pentatonic and F# Major Pentatonic. When combined these two shapes make up a full Lydian scale but breaking your phrases up between them is one way to make your licks sound more interesting.
