Substitute Dominants

[lollum_dropcap]S[/lollum_dropcap]ubstitute Dominants are also referred to as Tritone Substitutes because they contain the same tritone as the dominant chord that they are substituting for.

The root of the original dominant and the substitute dominant are also a tritone away from each other.

This means that the tritone sub will resolve down one half step to its target chord.
